Scritta nel Giving Tree
Michael Jackson la scrisse e la compose per Dangerous, l'album del 1991, e la produsse insieme a Bruce Swedien. Uscì come singolo il 9 novembre 1992 per la Epic Records. Nel documentario Living with Michael Jackson raccontò di averla creata nel suo «Giving Tree», un albero del Neverland Ranch.
In una chat con i fan nel 2001 disse che era la canzone di cui era più orgoglioso di aver scritto. Da quell'idea nacque anche la Heal the World Foundation, un'organizzazione benefica pensata per migliorare la vita dei bambini e insegnare loro ad aiutare gli altri.
Il video, diretto da Joe Pytka, mostra bambini che vivono in paesi segnati da conflitti, in particolare il Burundi, ed è uno dei pochi in cui Jackson non compare. Il brano tornò a chiudere il suo funerale allo Staples Center di Los Angeles il 7 luglio 2009, eseguito come lo aveva provato lui stesso poche settimane prima.
